Project Planning & Development
1. CIRCULAR ECONOMY
Ellen MacArthur Foundation’s Definition
“Looking beyond the current take-make-waste extractive industrial model, a circular economy aims to redefine growth, focusing on positive society-wide benefits. It is based on three principles: 1) Design out waste and pollution, 2) Keep products and materials in use, 3) Regenerate natural systems”
This is also in line with our theme as most of the projects are designed to close the loops using circularity concepts by eliminating wastes thus keeping the valuable resources while minimizing destruction values.
2. CARBON FRAMEWORK
This framework is build to calculate and report on the carbon emission produce in Penang based on Global Protocol for Community-Scale Greenhouse Gases (GPC) which offers a clear and robust framework build on existing methodologies for calculation and reporting city-wide Greenhouse Gases (GHG) emissions.
3. SCIENCE FOR CLIMATE ACTION WEBINAR SERIES
Penang Green Council as co-organizer has taken the initiative to work with BHC KL to facilitate sharing of current science and assessment of climate change from scientists to local stakeholders. These sessions will enable more people (esp. key stakeholders from government and policy delivering agencies) to understand the science aspects of Climate change and its impact to the environment, economic and social condition in order to promote greater and coordinated action in this domain.
