Penang Green School Transformation
Planning for 2025
PGS 2025 serves as a preparation phase for schools before the rating system starts in 2026. It aims to guide schools and build their readiness through workshops in collaboration with SEAMEO RECSAM.
A Training of Trainers (TOT) program will be introduced to equip teachers with the knowledge, skills, and tools needed to implement sustainable practices effectively.
PGC will also offering FREE Eco-Talk sessions to all registered schools. These sessions will provide valuable insights and engaging discussions on key environmental topics, helping to foster a culture of sustainability within your school community.
Planning for 2026
The Penang Green School Program is an upgraded and expanded version of the Penang Green School Award, set to launch in 2026. Under this program, registered schools will be recognized at the state level through a star-rating system.
Program Component
- Registered schools will receive state recognition through a star-rating system.
- Audit evaluation will be carried out by the local councils with the addition of a star rating recommendation.
- Four main criteria: Resource Efficiency, Cleanliness and Greening, Innovation & Creativity, and Community Involvement & Digital
