Love Our Mother Earth, Back To Nature!

As the saying goes: “You need to appreciate the beauty of one, then only you will fall in love with it”.

The second Sunshine Project in 2016 was held on 6th August at Tropical Spice Garden, Teluk Bahang.

This one-day camp was jointly-organised by Penang Green Council, Tropical Spice Garden and supported by ADUN Sg Bakap Service Centre and ADUN Jawi Service Centre. This programme was specially organised for kids from underprivileged group e.g. single-mother or low-income families. The camp is fully subsidised by Penang State Government together with the co-organiser.

“The objective of this programme is to raise environmental awareness among young generation by providing them an opportunity to get in touch with the nature, appreciate the environmental values and to protect our mother nature through different solutions”, said Hoo Huey Ching, Community Outreach Division Head of Penang Green Council.  41 participants aged between 8 to 11 years old had themselves immersed in the cool and tranquil garden environment whilst have fun learning through a series of outdoor activities such as five senses tour, where they were introduced to different types of flora. Meanwhile, participants were also being introduced to the newly launched Waste Segregation at Source Policy.
