Over the last few years, Penang Green Council (PGC) has received numerous requests from trainers, parents and teachers on the training manual for Environmental Education (EE), hence the first Training of Trainers manual – “To Mother Earth With Love”, is published. PGC is also organising the first ‘Training of Trainers (TOT)’ workshop, which will be held as follows:

The objectives of this workshop are to facilitate knowledge transfer and exchange on environmental education, and also to serve as the capacity building platform for anyone who is interested in environmental education. The Training of Trainers manual – “To Mother Earth With Love”, is set to be a comprehensive reference manual for all environmental educators in Penang and the northern region in Malaysia.

The 2-day workshop consists of 4 interconnected sections to provide basic training on four key environmental issues from introductory level. By joining this workshop, trainees are expected to understand the four key environmental issues: Climate Change, Waste, Water and Energy. Trainees are also expected to learn how to conduct environmental education in a fun and interactive way. This workshop is opened for adults above 18 years old, who are trainers, teachers, parents, professional or non-professional group of educators who are interested in Environmental Education. Trainees will learn about how to develop and strengthen knowledge of students who are 9 years old and above. Nevertheless, inferences should be drawn on training for different age groups as such of adults, teenagers and junior kids.

The registration fee for the workshop is RM250 per pax, where each participant will be entitled one copy of Training of Trainers Manual – “To Mother Earth With Love”, Edition 1/2017 and a Certificate of Completion of Training. Early bird registration before 11th May or for those who register in group of two persons and above will enjoy 10% exclusive discount from the registration fee. After completion of training, trainees will have the opportunity to be the trainers in PGC’s outreach programmes.

The workshop will be conducted by a group of four experienced trainers who are also “To Mother Earth With Love” manual’s chapters contributors; they are, Prof. Dr. Chan Ngai Weng from University of Science Malaysia, Madam Fazida binti Haji Othman from Institut Pendidikan Guru Kampus Pendidikan Islam Bangi, Madam Hairiah binti Munip from Institut Pendidikan Guru Kampus Tuanku Bainun and Dr. Lee Keok Cheong from Institut Pendidikan Guru Kampus Raja Melewar.
