Training of Trainers Workshop 1/2017: Environmental Education (24&25 May 2017)

Be an educator, teach for a sustainable future

PGC had organised the first 'Training of Trainers (TOT)' workshop on Environmental Education – Climate Change, Waste, Water and Energy on 24th-25th May 2017. A total of 22 participants including parents and professional or non-professional educators had joint us in this capacity building platform.

The objectives of this workshop are to impart knowledge and empower anyone from the public to be an environmental educators, subsequently teach for a sustainable future. The 2-day workshop consists of 4 interconnected sections to provide basic training on key environmental issues from introductory level. The workshop took place at Penang Institute and there was an outdoor classroom session conducted at Penang Botanical Garden.

Upon completion of this training, we hope that trainees are able to understand environmental issues such as: Climate Change, Waste, Water and Energy. Trainees are also expected to adapt the TOT manual as creatively as possible to assist them in conducting environmental education in a fun and interactive way.


1. Participants with the trainer, Madam Fazida Bt Othman who had contributed for Waste Chapter in the manual.


2. The Climate Change session was conducted by Madam Hairiah Bt Munip and Mr. Chin Chee Keong from IPGK Tuanku Bainun, Bukit Mertajam.

3. Dr Lee Keok Cheong, trainer for energy session took a group photo with everyone holding a DIY handcrafted bee made by her.
