Student Interior Design Project Competition -STEP

1.    PGC organises this competition to encourage students to become involved in a profession that is crucial in assuring a sustainable future for our living environment – the design of a resource efficient STEP (SusTainability and Environmental Protection) Green Centre.
2.    The outstanding student design project will be selected to be considered as part of STEP Green Centre’s interior design, to be built in KOMTAR, Penang, Malaysia in 2018.
3.    STEP Green Centre will be a creative and lively platform to promote green ideas, sustainable strategies, practices and green technologies. The collections of the centre will be used to produce interactive exhibitions, hands-on exploratory learning activities and other programmes rather than formal text-based approach in order to educate students and the general public about the environment. This learning centre will be a place of stimulating ideas and critical thinking, where the learning process will continuously be active.

1.    To provide a wide range of design solutions for STEP Green Centre.
2.    To promote the development of green and sustainable buildings designs in Penang.
3.    A platform for design talents to showcase their creativity and innovativeness in green buildings and sustainable design

1.    The winner will receive Cash Prize RM 5, 000.00 and Certificate of Appreciation
*All prizes are split equally among the team members.
2.    Special Award will be awarded to excellent design.

1.    The competition is open to all Malaysian students, including those who are studying overseas.
2.    Contestants can register individually or as a group.
3.    PGC recommends that the project groups should consist of at least two members of an undergraduate Interior Design or Architecture curriculum for the competition. Group members can be from different colleges. All group members must be enrolled during the semester/term in which they contribute to the design.
